This course provides the participant with advanced training above what is delivered in the Installer course. The course covers compiling risk assessments and method statements, undertaking thorough examinations of the complete installation, demonstrations of various types of Mast Climbing Work Platforms (MCWPs) and the selection and use of MCWPs on a particular job site. In addition to the implications and limitations of MCWPs in respect of their use with platform configuration, non-standard tie arrangements and anchor selection.
MCWP ADVANCED INSTALLER - IPAF Course
The participant will be able to:
•Install any MCWP configuration including special configurations and tailor-made projects
•Demonstrate the safe operation of an MCWP to intended users of the machine
•Deploy best practice emergency procedures in an event of an emergency
•Carry out and demonstrate daily checks for pre-use
•Plan the use of an MCWP on a particular site, including location and machine selection, and responsibilities of those involved with the supply and use of MCWPs
•Undertake risk assessments for typical elements of an MCWP installation/ dismantle, including hazard identification and risk reduction
•Compile method statements for typical elements of MCWP installation/dismantle
•Understand technical instruction and the hazards associated with special platform configurations
•Understand the effects of tie configuration changes, and anchor selection
•Undertake a thorough examination of an MCWP installation, identifying existing and potential faults, and writing a report in the prescribed format
Target group: Holders of the IPAF MCWP Installer qualification
Duration: 40 hours (depending on experience)

Prerequisites for participation:
Participants must be physically able to work in the selected work environment.
Participants shall supply safety footwear and working clothes.
